Bluetooth® car-kit
If you often use your mobile phone while driving, a Bluetooth® car-kit is the hands free and wireless way to help you to stay safe and legal. Remember, that from February 2007 there's a £60 fixed penalty and three points on your driving license for anyone caught using their mobile phone at the wheel.

What is Bluetooth®?
Bluetooth® technology allows you to use your mobile hands free because it enables your phone to wirelessly connect to your car-kit. It works by sending a secure signal of up to 10 meters between the Bluetooth® car-kit and any Bluetooth® compatible mobile phone.

This allows you to make and receive calls when you're driving more easily, safely and keeps you well within the law.

Bluetooth® car-kit advantages
Bluetooth® technology provides you with true hands free communication, without the need or fuss of unsightly cables and wires. You can also use the voice activated dialling function on your Bluetooth® mobile when using your Bluetooth® car-kit. Another unique advantage that Bluetooth® technology provides is its universal compatibility with all other Bluetooth® enabled handsets. This gives the user the freedom to upgrade their handsets without the additional cost of a new handsfree solution.

Where does the term 'Bluetooth®' originate from?
Bluetooth® was originally developed by mobile phone company Ericsson in 1994. Looking for a unique name for the technology, they settled on "Bluetooth®" after a tenth century Viking king called Harald Blatant ('Blatant' translated means 'Bluetooth®'). During his reign, he united Denmark and Norway, and was well known for his ability to help people communicate. Presumably, Ericsson's hope was that Bluetooth® technology would one day do the same.
